										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>De flesta som bygger ett modulhus tänker snarare om hur det skall passa platsen där huset uppförs än på transporten av modulhuset. Fokus ligger på tomten, läget och själva byggprocessen på plats. Men för industriellt byggda hus börjar resan långt tidigare än så. När husmoduler tillverkas i fabrik sker det under kontrollerade och optimerade förhållanden, där temperatur och luftfuktighet hålls på stabila nivåer och materialen hanteras med stor precision. Förutsättningarna är i princip ideala under hela produktionsfasen.</p>
<h2>När är det viktigt att mäta fukt i byggprocessen?</h2>
<p>Det är först när modulerna lämnar fabriken som förutsättningarna förändras på allvar. Då går man från en kontrollerad miljö till en verklighet där klimatet inte längre kan styras på samma sätt. Efter produktion följer ibland mellanlagring och därefter transport, ibland över långa avstånd och under varierande väderförhållanden. Under den här delen av livscykeln utsätts modulerna för temperaturväxlingar och luftfuktighetsförändringar, samtidigt som byggnadsdelarna flyttas från en kontrollerad miljö saknar man insikter i konstruktionens viktiga data saknas.</p>

<p>Det är här behovet av att mäta fukt i byggprocessen blir tydligt. För utan kontinuerlig uppföljning sker förändringar i det tysta. Fukt byggs upp gradvis, ofta utan synliga tecken, tills nivåerna passerar kritiska gränser. Problemet är sällan att avvikelser uppstår – utan att de inte upptäcks i tid.</p>
<h3>Träkonstruktioner och dolda fuktrisker</h3>
<p>För träbaserade konstruktioner är detta särskilt kritiskt. Materialet reagerar på sin omgivning, och vid förhöjd relativ luftfuktighet under en längre tid ökar risken för mikrobiell påväxt. Om fuktkvoten överstiger rekommenderade nivåer kan det påverka både konstruktionens livslängd och framtida underhållskostnader. Det handlar sällan om plötsliga förändringar, utan snarare om små förskjutningar i klimatet som pågår över tid.</p>
<p>Med den bakgrunden blir det tydligt varför fuktmätning i byggprocessen inte bara är en teknisk detalj, utan en avgörande del av kvalitetssäkringen. Utan data saknas helt enkelt förutsättningarna för att veta hur konstruktionen faktiskt mår innan den monteras.</p>
<h2>Från antaganden till datadriven fuktövervakning</h2>
<p>Det var i just detta skede som ett av våra första uppdrag tog form, inom det Vinnova-finansierade projektet Smart Built Environment. Behovet var tydligt: att skapa en bättre förståelse för vad som faktiskt händer med husmoduler mellan fabrik och färdig byggnad. Lösningen blev att installera sensorer i varje enskild modul för att kontinuerligt mäta temperatur och luftfuktighet genom hela kedjan.</p>
<p>Genom att mäta fukt i byggprocessen på detta sätt blev det möjligt att ersätta antaganden med faktiska data. Istället för att förlita sig på stickprov skapades en komplett historik per modul, där varje förändring kunde följas över tid. Det gav en helt annan nivå av spårbarhet och gjorde det möjligt att identifiera exakt när och var avvikelser uppstod.</p>
<p>Detta innebär en förflyttning mot ett mer datadrivet byggande, där samma logik som används inom annan avancerad industriell produktion börjar tillämpas även här. När data finns tillgänglig blir det möjligt att förstå processer på djupet, minska risker och fatta bättre beslut genom hela projektets livscykel.</p>
<h2>Att agera i tid med rätt insikt</h2>
<p>När fukt och temperatur övervakas kontinuerligt förändras också möjligheten att agera. Små avvikelser blir synliga direkt, och historisk data gör det möjligt att identifiera trender innan de utvecklas till problem. Om värden börjar närma sig kritiska nivåer kan åtgärder sättas in i rätt tid – under transport, under lagring eller innan montage.</p>
<p>Resultatet är bättre kontroll, högre byggkvalitet och minskade risker genom hela byggprojektet. Ett hus blir inte ett hem vid montage, utan över tid. Men genom att mäta fukt i byggprocessen skapas rätt förutsättningar redan från början – från fabrik till färdig byggnad.</p>

<p>Problemet TempChekkr är tydligt, runt om i Sverige står lokaler tomma under långa perioder, förråd, lagerlokaler, säsongsöppna verksamheter, uthyrningsfastigheter och tillfälliga kontor. Det här är fastigheter som sällan är övervakade. När temperaturen faller snabbt kan vatten frysa. När mild luft följs av kyla bildas kondens. Långvarigt hög luftfuktighet skapar förutsättningar för mögelpåväxt. Och utan övervakning vet ingen vet hur den mår mellan kontroller. Problemet är i sig inte att byggnaden står tom. Problemet är att intermittent övervakning genom manuella kontroller innebär resor, nedlagd tid och tillsyn. Det kostar tid, bränsle och administration – och ger ändå bara en ögonblicksbild.</p>
<p>Med kontinuerlig temperaturövervakning kan man istället få en löpande bild av hur fastigheten faktiskt mår. Man kan se trender över tid, få larm vid kritiska nivåer. Och det kanske viktigaste, man kan fatta beslut baserat på data – inte på antaganden.</p>

Få ägnar det särskilt många tankar i vardagen, och det är också därför fel i dessa utrymmen kan pågå länge utan att någon ser det.</p>
<p>Det är här verksamhetens digitala infrastruktur finns samlad. Servrar, switchar, styrsystem, gateways och reservkraftsystem. I vissa organisationer handlar det om ett mindre serverrum eller teknikrum, i andra om serverhallar, fläktrum eller våningsplan.Oavsett storlek gäller dock samma sak: <strong>stabil drift förutsätter stabil temperatur</strong>.</p>
<h2>Temperaturövervakning serverrum – en avgörande faktor för stabil drift</h2>
<p>När temperaturen i ett teknikrum håller rätt nivå fungerar systemen som de ska. Men små avvikelser kan snabbt påverka elektroniken. Några graders ökning under en längre period kan vara skillnaden mellan stabil drift och återkommande driftstörningar.</p>

<p>Föreställ dig ett serverrum i en kontorsfastighet där företagets nätverk och centrala system finns placerade i ett par 19-tumsrack i källaren. Kylaggregatet i rummet får jobba dygnet runt för att hålla temperaturen stabil.</p>
<p>En kväll börjar kylsystemet tappa effekt. Det är inget dramatiskt fel, bara en läckande ventil som gör att kylmedium sakta pyser ut ur systemet och det kyler inte lika effektivt som tidigare. Temperaturen i rummet börjar långsamt stiga. Allt eftersom kylmedium slipper ut börjar kompressorn att gå varm, dess olja börjar koka och blandas med gasen. Anläggningen kyler allt sämre. </p>

<h2>Temperaturövervakning fastighet – varför tomma byggnader behöver skydd</h2>
<p>Så länge värmesystemet fungerar och byggnadens inomhusklimat är som det skall är längre perioder utan besök odramatiskt. Men så snart ingen vistas i fastigheten dagligen förändras förutsättningarna. Små förändringar i temperatur eller drift kan på kort tid utvecklas till problem som upptäcks först när skadan redan är skedd.<br />

Att ha koll på temperaturen är resurskrävande om det innefattar resor, det kostar tid och involverar någon form av transportmedel. Där är <strong>temperaturövervakning i fastigheter</strong> allt mer relevant – särskilt för byggnader som inte har kontinuerlig tillsyn.</p>
<h3>Ett realistiskt scenario från vår egen vardag</h3>
<p>En kall dag i december så skickas en pushnotis med en temperaturvarning. Något är fel, det är bara 10 grader i vardagsrummet i fritidsfastigheten. Värmepumpen har stannat utan varning. Det här har vi själv upplevt, och är en drivkraft för att utveckla den här typen av lösningar, så att fler skall kunna undvika kostsamma skador.</p>
<p>Föreställ dig nu en mindre kontorsfastighet som står tom efter att en hyresgäst flyttat ut. Lokalen ska renoveras inför nästa uthyrning, men arbetet planeras först om två månader. Under tiden hålls värmen på en låg nivå för att skydda installationer och byggnad. Under en kall period i januari stannar värmepumpen på grund av ett tekniskt fel. Temperaturen i fastigheten börjar långsamt sjunka.</p>
<p>Under de följande två dygnen faller temperaturen under fryspunkten i delar av byggnaden. Vatten i rörsystem börjar frysa och ett rör spricker. När solen kommer fram och värmen återvänder börjar isen tina och vatten att läcka ut över golvet.</p>
<p>När någon till slut kommer till fastigheten – kanske en vecka senare – möts de av fukt, skador på material och ett försäkringsärende som hade kunnat undvikas.</p>
<p>Den här typen av situation uppstår inte för att fastigheten är dåligt byggd eller för att någon gjort ett misstag. Den uppstår helt enkelt för att <strong>ingen visste vad som hände i byggnaden under tiden</strong>.</p>
<h3>Problemet med manuella kontroller</h3>
<p>Traditionellt hanteras tomma fastigheter genom tillsyn. En fastighetsskötare eller driftansvarig gör regelbundna besök och kontrollerar att värme och installationer fungerar.</p>
<p>Metoden har länge varit standard i branschen, men den har en tydlig begränsning: den ger bara en ögonblicksbild.</p>
<p>En byggnad kan vara helt i ordning vid kontrolltillfället. Några timmar senare kan temperaturen börja falla utan att någon märker det. Nästa tillsyn kanske sker först flera dagar senare.</p>
<p>För fastigheter som står tomma under längre perioder innebär det både kostnader och osäkerhet. Samtidigt kräver varje kontroll resa, planering och administration.</p>

Preserving such a treasure from the late 1800s goes beyond structural care; controlling its microclimate is essential to prevent corrosion, mold, and material decay.</p>
<h2>Why monitoring matters on historic ships</h2>
<p>Indoor air quality sensors are increasingly used in museums, archives, and heritage sites to safeguard artifacts. Pollutants like CO₂, particulate matter (PM), VOCs, along with temperature and humidity fluctuations, all threaten collections by triggering irreversible damage—such as metal corrosion, wood warping, or mold growth.<br />

In heritage buildings and vessels, maintaining stable conditions is critical: relative humidity swings and poor air quality degrade organic and metallic materials, while corrosion and mold damage can spread silently behind closed panels.</p>
<h3>Two gateways, full-ship coverage</h3>
<p>Protecting a historic ship can be done, but it has its challenges. Old ships feature watertight compartments—hardly ideal construction for wireless sensors, especially in a steel hull. For one particular vessel that required monitoring in both the bow and stern sections, two AKKR8 gateways were deployed. One gateway in the bow, one in the stern—wirelessly scan for precision air quality sensors that measure PM, CO₂, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), temperature, and humidity. The readings are sent via cellular connection to the cloud, offering holistic monitoring across the ship&#8217;s watertight compartments. The data is encrypted to maintain integrity, and all the sensor readings are displayed for the customer, providing real-time insights, historical data, and alarms if values move outside defined thresholds.</p>
<p>This setup ensures control over the environment, yet avoids invasive cabling—ideal for preserving the vessel’s authenticity.<br />

Sankt Kors continuously works to create optimal work environments and has recently conducted a test installation of the <a href="https://linkopingsciencepark.se/testing-testing-in-mjardevi-center/">AKKR8 gateway and HibouAir air quality sensors</a> at the Mjärdevi Center, which has provided unexpectedly valuable insights.</p>
<h2>Smart sensors uncover hidden risks</h2>
<p>Our sensors revealed that the indoor air quality index (IAQ) increased at the same time every day. This prompted us to investigate further and contact the customer. Although the particle levels and CO2 concentrations in the premises were within normal ranges, a significant increase in TVOC was detected, which can indicate the presence of chemical compounds in the air.</p>
<p>After the customer, in collaboration with their cleaning company, thoroughly examined the situation, it was discovered that stronger cleaning agents, previously used during the pandemic, had inadvertently been applied on a few occasions. Thanks to the insights we provided, the cleaning company acted promptly and reverted to using products better suited to the current post-pandemic work environment.</p>
<h3>Improved air quality for staff and sustainability for the future</h3>
<p>This adjustment not only improved the air quality for everyone in the building but also enhanced the working environment for the cleaning staff. In addition, procedures were updated to ensure that similar situations can be prevented in other environments.</p>
<p>The result is a safer and more sustainable workplace, where the AKKR8 gateway and HibouAir air quality sensors not only enhance the indoor climate but also contribute to quality assurance processes and ensure a long-term healthy and sustainable work environment.</p>
<p>We are pleased to have contributed to these improvements at Sankt Kors and look forward to continuing our collaboration to further improve indoor environments.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In our ongoing efforts to construct the most flexible IoT hardware solutions, we are pleased to announce the release of yet another firmware version, now with more &#8217;yeehaw&#8217; than ever before. </p>
<h2>Continuous innovation, continuous uploads</h2>
<p>Version 1.4.3 brings a multitude of new features and improvements, with the standout addition being the continuous upload feature. Our developers&#8217; primary objective was to modify device behavior with the overarching goal: &#8221;Aim to be continuously connected, always ready to send data.&#8221;</p>
<p>Once this function is enabled, the device will:</p>
<p>&#8211; Initiate startup procedures<br />
&#8211; Read sensors once or at configured intervals, thereafter pushing payload(s) to a cloud server</p>
<p>This behavior will be repeated, ensuring the device remains connected to both the network and the cloud throughout the session.</p>
<h3>To be continuos</h3>
<p>In addition to watchdogs and other features designed to maintain connection stability, the device will reboot after a certain period (configurable, with a default of 24 hours) to ensure long-term stability.</p>
<p>For whom, you may ask? Well, this mode is not suited for those seeking to conserve battery power, as it requires continuous power and thus necessitates a power supply.</p>
<p>Similar to many other function modes within this device, we utilize &#8221;reading triggers&#8221; — conditions that must be met for the device to register a payload. Whether you wish to continuously monitor a conveyor belt and only transmit data when a sensor is activated, track temperature and receive alerts when it falls below a certain threshold, or record vibrations beyond a specified level, this device is equipped to meet your needs.</p>
<p>The new feature, named Continuous Sensor Reading, is part of the non-traditional sensor reading schemes we have implemented in the device.</p>

The energy consumption factor is the holy grail of large-scale IoT, as it&#8217;s the ultimate selling point— &#8221;our device will last ten years on one battery.&#8221; This is a bar every solution must meet in the IoT realm. The question arises: how do we get there? The answer lies in techniques like data filtering, intelligent local data storage, and non-real-time data uploads, aligning perfectly with current market trends.</p>
<h3>A Three-Step Model for Efficiency</h3>
<p>The AKKR8 sensor, an IoT marvel we&#8217;ve designed, incorporates a relatively simple yet essential logic at the sensor level. It&#8217;s grounded in the understanding that addressing connectivity costs is most efficient when done close to the network&#8217;s edges. Our sensor employs data filtering as a core function. After each measurement, it makes a critical decision—discard, store, or upload the measurement value to the server. </p>

<h4>Consider this example:</h4>
<p>Imagine installing a temperature monitoring sensor in a conference room. Not everyone benefits from five-minute updates on a room&#8217;s temperature hovering around 20°C. Instead, the sensor wakes up, takes a reading, and checks if it falls within the typical range, say 20-21 degrees. If it does, the sensor stores the value. If the next reading is, for instance, 20.6°C, it saves that value and discards the previous one. Only select values are uploaded less frequently if readings consistently fall within the accepted range. However, if the sensor detects an outlier, such as 18 degrees, it immediately sends an alert. In such cases, we adopt a more frequent logging strategy stored locally and transmitted more frequently. We optimize power consumption, local storage, and cloud resources through these straightforward software functions.</p></div>
<h3>Optimizing Battery Life through Network Signal Strength</h3>
<p>We all know that a sensor&#8217;s battery life is inversely proportional to its coverage, whether LoRaWAN or 4G/5G. In areas with poorer connectivity, the battery life can shrink by a factor of four. To address this, our sensor periodically assesses the signal strength of its connection and reports it. Our central data analysis platform then calculates the optimal frequency for metric transmissions based on the current signal strength.</p>
<h3>Customizing Sensor Functionality</h3>
<p>But how do we adjust and fine-tune sensor settings remotely? We achieve this by employing MQTT data protocols utilizing MQTT callbacks. These callbacks enable the sensor to re-read updates and implement configuration changes while maintaining a connection. This can include reading measurements from additional sensors, controlling the frequency of updates, and much more. It&#8217;s a flexible approach that doesn&#8217;t necessitate remote software updates. Standard protocols like MQTT offer this flexibility, and we anticipate even more power-efficient protocols and advanced adaptations. In time, sensors will learn from their environment, adapting to the installation scenario. Imagine a sensor on an electric motor monitoring temperature and vibration. The future sensor will observe and learn, setting alarm limits based on abnormal deviations.</p>
<p>In closing, while more innovative future sensors may be around the corner, our current focus is saving battery power, reducing costs, and preserving the environment. In the grand landscape of IoT, it&#8217;s not just about connecting devices; it&#8217;s about doing so efficiently, sustainably, and intelligently.</p>

In our AKKR8 sensors, we use MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) in most cases to report data to a cloud service (AWS/Azure IoT Hub/Thingsboard/Also or other similar platforms). We benefit from using MQTT callbacks as it offers a powerful mechanism for us to handle the reconfiguration of the device in a safe, platform-agnostic and power-efficient way. This blog post explores the significance of MQTT callbacks and how it empowers us to optimize IoT applications.</p>
<h2>What is MQTT?</h2>
<p>MQTT is a lightweight messaging protocol, there are others, but MQTT serves as the backbone for streamlined communication in many IoT applications. At its core, MQTT operates on a publish-subscribe model. The sensors connect to an MQTT broker and report the sensor readings. But before they detach, they look at specific topics they subscribe to and receive messages published on those topics.</p>
<p>The device subscribes to different topics. These topics can send messages that will change device parameters if you know the correct configuration command. The username, passwords, encryption certificates and all user data are protected, but relatively simple things like: </p>
<p>· reporting interval<br />
· alarm thresholds<br />
· turn on/off specific sensors (to save power)<br />
· turn on/off the LED for diagnostics</p>
<p>can be reprogrammed (the list is quite long, but we can only supply all details to customers that have signed an NDA with us).</p>
<h3>The power of callbacks</h3>
<p>MQTT callbacks empower any platform we connect to process messages and configure essential things in the device. The superpower is that we only need a single platform to process sensor readings and configuration, and most platforms on the market can handle these functions. </p>
<p>Three strengths of MQTT callbacks are that they execute fast, are easy on the processor, and can handle messages when the device is connected without additional processes or servers running. As we use TLS-encrypted messages with end-to-end encryption, we rest assured that the devices can not be reprogrammed by other individuals or organizations than you.</p>
<p>We can effectively manage MQTT communication and build robust IoT applications by utilising callbacks. In the dynamic landscape of IoT, MQTT callbacks offer a powerful solution for efficient message handling and event-driven programming. By employing callbacks, pros like you can harness the full potential of MQTT, ensuring seamless communication between devices and servers in IoT environments.
