Description
AKKR8 Indoor Sensor A8 ITHA
The ITHA (I = Indoor, T = Temperature, H = Humidity, A = Airquality ) of AKKR8 is a professional-grade indoor IoT sensor for temperature, humidity and air quality measurements (CO2 and TVOC) designed for precise monitoring. Equipped with internal sensors, it delivers highly accurate measurements of the conditions in any indoor setting, such as offices, shopping malls, hospitals or storage areas.
Rugged and energy-efficient design
The main unit is a discreet device that can be mounted on a wall or similar surface. The barrel power connector guarantees a fast and durable power supply connection. The device has a built-in antenna to ensure signal integrity and an LED to indicate status.
Each sensor is ready to deploy straight out of the box, providing immediate connectivity via LTE-M cellular networks. Data can be accessed through your preferred IoT platform or via AKKR8’s ready-made packages, which include just the sensor, connectivity, and platform integration.
Sensors, inputs, connections
The AKKR8 indoor Sensor A8 ITHA measures temperature and humidity via intrnal sensors that are precise and reliable. It measures the air quality once per hour, storing the data in the device and sending it to the platform twice a day, where you can access operational data.
All units are equipped with three digital inputs and one output. The first input can immediately wake the device, making it ideal for alarms. The other two inputs are designed for connecting additional alarm-sensors. This feature provides flexible integration for monitoring and alert systems.
The device is alos a precise indoor sensor for monitoring temperature, humidity, and air quality. Measures eCO₂ and eTVOC levels using factory-calibrated sensors, providing reliable data for healthy indoor environments. Ideal for offices, storage areas, and other controlled indoor spaces.
The built-in air quality sensor measures equivalent total volatile organic compounds (eTVOC) and equivalent CO₂ (eCO₂). eCO₂ indicates the CO₂ concentration, while eTVOC reflects the total level of emitted gases from chemicals and pollutants. The sensor cannot detect all organic compounds but supports alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, organic acids, amines, and both aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.
For best readings, the air quality sensor should stabilize for a few days after installation. Stable indoor conditions and normal room temperature also ensure the most accurate measurements.
Easy deployment and flexible connectivity
Each sensor is ready to deploy straight out of the box, providing immediate connectivity via LTE-M cellular networks. Data can be accessed through your preferred IoT platform or via AKKR8’s ready-made packages, which include sensor, connectivity, and platform integration.
Continuous monitoring and actionable insights
The device is ideal for continuous monitoring over extended periods. The AKKR8 indoor Sensor A8 ITHA ensures that critical environmental data is always available, enabling timely insights for operational decisions, preventive maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
Reliable solution for demanding environments
With robust construction, precise sensing, and flexible connectivity options, the A8 ITHA is a reliable solution for professional indoor monitoring applications, providing peace of mind and actionable data in any protected indoor environment.
Flexible product options
The AKKR8 indoor Sensor A8 ITHA is offered in three flexible configurations to meet different deployment needs.
Option 1 provides the standalone device, ready to use with your existing IoT platform of choice. Option 2 allows you to use the sensor with our preconfigured mythings.cloud platform based on ThingsBoard, giving you immediate access to connectivity, data visualization, and analytics. Option 3 offers a fully custom setup, where we configure your own ThingsBoard instance so you can add additional sensors and fully own the platform, while we handle the initial configuration and deployment for you.Sensors
Air quality and humidity
The AKKR8 air quality sensor combines high precision with energy-efficient operation. It measures temperature, humidity, and air quality with very low deviation and excellent long-term stability. Each sensor is factory-calibrated, and calibration data is stored directly on the chip — eliminating the need for manual recalibration or software adjustments.
Measurement data:
– Relative humidity: ±3% RH (max), 0–80% RH
– Temperature: ±0.4 °C (max), –10 to 85 °C
– Operating range: 0–100% RH
The high-accuracy sensor performs best in stable environments but should not be placed where condensation can occur, such as outdoors or in areas with large temperature variations. Condensation can affect readings when warm, humid air meets cold surfaces.
Indoor air quality measurement
In addition to temperature and humidity, the sensor measures indoor air quality by detecting volatile organic compounds (VOC). The integrated digital gas sensor uses ultra-low power and a metal-oxide (MOX) element to detect a wide range of gases.
Smart algorithms process the raw sensor data and report two key values:
- eCO₂ – equivalent carbon dioxide level, an indicator of CO₂ concentration
- eTVOC – equivalent total volatile organic compounds, representing the overall concentration of emitted gases from chemicals and pollutants
Measurement ranges:
– eCO₂: 400 ppm – 32768 ppm
– eTVOC: 0 – 29206 ppb
The sensor can detect alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, organic acids, amines, as well as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.
Installation recommendations
For best accuracy, install the sensor in a stable indoor environment where temperature and humidity do not change abruptly. When the sensor is moved to a new location, allow a few days for it to stabilize before relying on readings.
As with all VOC sensors, extremely polluted environments or very high VOC levels can affect accuracy. High humidity can also have an impact, although the built-in humidity correction reduces this effect.
Recommendation: use the sensor indoors under normal conditions for the most reliable and stable measurements.
External Temperature sensor (can be retrofitted)
AKKR8 supports external temperature probes (Dallas 1-wire) that can be connected to the screw terminals on the board with GND, DATA, and 3V3. The 1-wire interface has three screw terminal connections on the board, but it can also be used with devices that have two connections.
When using devices with three connections, the power supply pin should be connected to 3V3; otherwise, it can be ignored. There is already a resistor on the board, so you do not need to connect an additional one.
One-Wire Connection
The AKKR8 sensor is a 1-Wire master and is therefore expected to supply power to the external devices at 3.3 V. You should not supply the AKKR8 with 3.3 V from other devices via the Dallas 1-wire connection.
Multiple Sensor Support
Each 1-Wire slave device has a guaranteed unique address stored in a memory chip. This allows the AKKR8 to manage multiple devices of the same type without conflicts.
You can connect up to six Dallas 1-wire temperature sensors to a single master. Another advantage of Dallas 1-wire is that the signal is not affected by the cable resistance, although a maximum length of 25 meters is normally recommended.
DS18B20 Characteristics
Normal characteristics for a Dallas DS18B20 are that they are intended for a measurement range of -55°C to +125°C, with an accuracy of ±0.5°C in the range of -10°C to +85°C.
